Just a few important notes to pass along… ~We started our second Mystery Quilt … our first Mystery Quilt was overwhelmingly received and our second one is proving to do the same! Fall News

Fall is in the air and Ivy has the NEW FLANNELS to prove it!! Just arrived….Holly Taylor’s Boundary Waters flannel….fall colors, they’re cozy and BEAUTIFUL! We’re busy making a sample now and will have kits ready within the next few days! Our flannels are growing…just in time to make a rag quilt for winter or better yet, a rag jacket for YOU! Our kids flannels are arriving daily too! Sooo much FUN …create a rag quilt for the little ones for Christmas! * * * * * * * * * Just arrived….Nursing fabrics! Great for pillowcases, bags…LOVE IT! * * * * * * * * * The moment you have ALL been waiting for….we’re starting our second MYSTERY QUILT! Join us for the “Fabric Foolishness” Mystery Quilt! Thursday, September 5 we’ll be READY! Stop in any time on Thursday or any day after to pick up your first clue! Barb did her test quilt and had a blast making it. This quilt requires 4 different fabrics. Barb has posted 6 different color ways to help you select your fabrics. She has also suggested a few notions that were a great help to her while piecing the quilt. We have them displayed with her fabric choices … if you purchase any of these when picking up your clue you will receive 10% off the item. The cost is the same, $5 for all six clues. Pat will be demonstrating throughout the day how to do those EASY tablerunners using the gorgeous stripe fabrics that we all love but don’t know what to do with them. We’ll have lots of kits to choose from or you can choose from fabric we’ll have on display for you. How easy is that?!?! * * * * * * * * * * * * We’ve trained you to be using that wonderful Aurifil thread for piecing your quilt … Guess what?? We now carry the neutral colors in the LARGER spools!! The spools you have been using has just over 1400yds of thread….these have 6000yds of thread!! We also have the thread stands to put these on right next to your machine…you’ll never run out of your piecing thread! This group meets the 1st and 3rd Monday of EVERY month to volunteer their time putting together quilts for us to donate to organizations in need. Ivy Thimble is Celebrating!

First … thank you to ALL of you that joined us this past weekend for the Doug Leko of Antler Quilt Designs event… it was a pleasure hosting Doug and I think for all that attended truly enjoyed themselves. We have a few of his quilts still with us, as well as many of his patterns, if you missed the event and would like to see a few of his designs. Exciting News at Ivy Thimble!

Ivy Thimble is celebrating 10 YEARS in April! We are soo excited and PROUD! We are starting the celebration EARLY! We have invited a young gentleman, Doug Leko, Quilt Designer of Antler Quilt Designs from Minnesota. Doug Leko’s story is unique in the quilting industry. He founded Antler Quilt Design in 2008, when he was just fourteen. He’d been quilting since the age of six, and working in his mother’s quilt shop over the years helped him develop his skills and refine his art. After pattern testing for various designers, he began to develop his own quilt designs. Doug took off from there, launching a full-scale design and marketing operation while he was still in high school. Since then, his reputation has grown along with his business. He has a vibrant and growing collection of patterns available at quilt stores around the U.S. and Canada. New releases each year coincide with the timing of Quilt Market. With every new release, he signs and numbers the first 24 patterns, and those are intermixed randomly as orders are filled – so keep your eye out! Doug takes a distinctive approach to his quilt designs. He enjoys incorporating secondary design elements, and he’s absolutely passionate about color. For Doug, there’s nothing like pulling together just the right mix of coordinating fabrics for a project. He loves every aspect of the quilting process, from design to fabric selection to handwork to binding. Doug is busy designing our very own Ivy Thimble Anniversary pattern – just for US! Mark your calendars to join us Thursday, March 28, 2-4pm ($5) for a trunk show given by Doug! He’s bringing his treasured quilts and many wonderful stories and quilting hints. February News at Ivy

Hi Everyone, Short and sweet this time… FIRST – Thank you to ALL that joined us for our SUPER SALE celebration last weekend. Our local Foodcupoard sends a special thank you to those of you that brought in non-perishable items! I apologize to all that I wasn’t there, I was told MANY…MANY of you came. As you may have heard, I was in New York City awaiting the birth of my second grandchild. HE arrived Sunday morning…Alexander Jeffrey, 6lbs/11oz and 20” long… mom, dad and the little guy are doing GREAT! I missed seeing all of you of but as you all understand “a grandma’s gotta do what a grandma’s gotta do!” * * * * * * * * New arrivals at Ivy: We now have Corduroy!! Thin wale and WIDE – 57”!!
